Libya's announcement that it will dismantle all its unconventional weapons programs is good news, both a model for other nations - in the region, particularly Israel; in the world, particularly us - to follow and proof that, contrary to what we were repeatedly assured prior to the invasion of Iraq, patience and diplomacy can work, even with tyrants.
But has anyone noticed how all the initial news was not really about what Libya did but about what George Bush and Tony Blair said about what Libya did?
Even in the current news cycle, the news consists of other nations' reactions to the news. Is it that Libya has said nothing? Or is it that our media does not regard Libya as able (or allowed) to speak for itself?
