Good fences make good neighbors

The Israeli daily Haaretz for January 16 has coverage of the effect the "security barrier," now being built by Israel to "separate" Israelis from Palestinian areas, is having in East Jerusalem. Among other things, it reports that
[a]ccording to a study by the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), which is based in East Jerusalem, the wall in this area will disrupt not only the mobility of the Palestinians, but also their access to education and health services, and sources of livelihood - all basic, existential needs that the Fourth Geneva Convention is intended to protect and ensure.
The blog I'm using doesn't allow me to post pictures, so follow the link to the article and just check out the picture of the wall under construction. It says a lot.

Footnote: Americans for Peace Now (APN) describes itself as
a grassroots American Zionist organization working to enhance Israel's security through peace, and to support the Israeli Shalom Achshav (Peace Now) movement. One of APN's primary missions is to advocate for pro-peace, pro-Israel policies in Washington. Through letter-writing campaigns, our activists send a powerful message that American Jewry strongly supports active US engagement in ending the violence and returning to a path of peace.
You might check it out if you're of the mind.
