Washington, March 26 (Reuters) - The U.S. government's Homeland Security Department, which is charged with protecting the nation from a terror attack, has imposed a hiring freeze amid budget concerns and halted nonessential spending at two of its key units, officials said on Friday.They should have realized something was up when the legislation for their budget got titled No Security Officer Left Behind.
The move to temporarily halt hiring affects two of the department's bureaus - Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
