Powell v. rationality - footnote to the preceding

According to the International Herald Tribune, on March 9, Colin Powell told Fox News that
the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq was an inappropriate subject for election-year debate.

"We shouldn't be having a political debate over issues like that."
So the evidence of the massive failure, the massive deception, of the primary justification offered for "pre-emptive" invasion of another country is off the table, huh? Other nations disappear people, we disappear issues.

But well, okay, then, Mr. Secretary of State, what should we be having a political debate over? Maybe you'd prefer, oh, I don't know, the economy?
