[W]e saw a threat based upon intelligence in Iraq. The intelligence said there's a threat. ... See, you're a threat; disarm. ...It's amazing - almost the entire speech was nothing more than a collection of jingoistic puffery and applause lines about the inherent greatness and nobility of Americans vis-a-vis the rest of humanity. And we as a people continue to eat it up. No wonder others are afraid of us.
And the equation changed after September the 11th. And so, you see, I was in a position where I either took the word of a madman or took the actions necessary to defend America. And, given that choice, I will defend America every time.
