It's the time of the season

Happy Winter Solstice! Winter - or summer, for my Aussie friends - arrived at 7:42am Eastern Time Tuesday morning.

And for those knuckleheads who are ranting insanely about a "plot against Christmas" and who plaster "He's the Reason for the Season" bumperstickers on their cars, I have a message: Jesus is not the reason for the season. He's a Johnny-come-lately to the celebrations of the solstice and just one of a multitude of traditions.

So Happy Holidays!
Happy Hannukah!
Happy Kwanzaa!
Merry Christmas!

And Yo! Saturnalia!
