I almost missed it but wanted to squeeze it in. Today, Monday, is the 149th anniversary of the publication of The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin.
I wonder if any plans are afoot for next year? With evolution almost constantly under attack by various wackos (usually) wielding Bibles that they don't actually understand, I think a celebration of the 150th anniversary would be a good thing.
I found out about the anniversary via Crooks & Liars which has a link to a neat page called "This Week in History," containing info about events related to peace and justice, at Peacebuttons.info.
Footnote: Just FYI, the "evolution" link above is to posts here at Lotus that mention evolution. That also means, however, that a number of them merely mention it without discussing either it or the attacks on it from the hordes of ignorance. So you'll have to scan some.
