Harry Reid is a fuck-brain, lame ass coward

I know I'm violating my rule against single-line posts with a link, but I wanted to say that and you already know why.

This is what the NYT blog post I read said: "The First Amendment protects freedom of religion," Reid's spokesman Jim Manley said in a statement Monday. "Senator Reid respects that but thinks that the mosque should be built some place else."

My dear, departed mother (may she rest in peace) always said, "Say what you mean and mean what you say." Sen. Reid is doing neither.

Respect? What about stand up for? What about his duty to Protect and Defend? Give me an effing break, we are talking about the Constitution. How does one remind Sen. Reid (and the pussy wussy Democrats) of that? Is our only recourse just not to vote for 'em in primaries or the general election?

Those who strive to support Democrats by pointing accusing fingers at Republicans (sometimes reading Rumproast is painful on that score) are really saying that the best we can hope for in the long run is for things to get worse more slowly than they otherwise would. That's something I'm not yet willing to concede (despite sounding like it often enough).

My notion has always been to vote "for," not "against." If there is someone who is good enough to merit your support, then vote for them - even if they have a D after their name. If there isn't, then don't. Vote third party or write yourself in.

But don't vote for "the other guy" to "make a point" 'cause no one will know you made it. And don't vote on the basis of "God forbids" (i.e., vote for A because "God forbid" B should win).

The only way the "pussy wussy Democrats" will learn is if there is a price, a political price, to be paid. The best way to start extracting that price is to make it clear that our support can't be taken for granted. And throwing our support behind the candidate we most like and to withhold it (in both primary and general elections) from those who are too far removed from where we stand is the best way to do that.

I prefer to think of Harry Reid as a fuckstick, perhaps a distinction not worth quibbling over.
