Quick site update

I've added Trackback capability to the site. It don't expect much activity on it for the same reason I expected I wouldn't get a lot of comments: I don't get a whole lot of traffic. Yet, he added hopefully (or egotistically, take your pick).

The explanations you get of what Trackback does are usually written in geekspeak, a language designed to be unintelligible to non-bitheads. I don't speak the language but I can usually plow my way through it well enough to get the gist. Briefly, Trackback is a way for sites to alert each other to related information. That is, if I see a post on another blog that has Trackback (or an equivalent) and I comment on that post here, I can use Trackback to let the other site know that I've done so. Similarly, if anyone comments on something I've said here, they can let me know they did.

So suppose, for example, Atrios (who does have Trackback) says something I think is great. Or baloney. Whatever. I comment on it here. I can ping his site to let it know of my comments. Then anyone reading his site could, if they chose, click on the Trackback link to get a link to my post. In a way, it works much like the Comments except without the limitations of length or (for those that use them) lack of graphics.

So if you see something here worth commenting on, please do. Either via Comments or Trackback.
