Speaking of conventions

An AP report for July 31 informs us that security planners for the Republican Convention in New York are "learning from the Democrats' experience in Boston." It includes this:
The first night, delegates heading into the FleetCenter for the start of the Democratic National Convention had to navigate a crowd of singing protesters, libertarians with bullhorns and demonstrators handing out Christian leaflets.

The unexpected influx, with no fence to separate protesters from delegates, added distraction and delay for officials who had carefully scripted so much of the convention's security.
This was described as a "hitch," a "mistake," an "unfortunate mistake," and an "example of the difficulty that convention organizers have had."

Absolutely! Demonstrators actually being able to approach delegates? Outrageous! We can't have this!
