If you can't say something nice....

You know the rest.
United Nations (AP, September 21) - President Bush didn't get much reaction from world leaders - either during or after his speech to the UN General Assembly. In the speech, he defended the US invasion of Iraq.

Bush's comments were met with polite applause after they were over.
And check the last sentence of this:
Many world leaders hesitated to comment on Bush's speech. South African President Thabo Mbeki said, "I'm still reading it." Many European leaders skipped the meeting entirely, sending their foreign ministers instead.
There will be all kinds of spin but that clearly is a deliberate snub, a way of saying "you have nothing of importance to say to us." And indeed he doesn't - and didn't. As those who were present seemed to agree.
