Voiceless

I mentioned in August that my wife and I were moving because the landlord at our previous place went weirdly ballistic over our pets, which he had known about all along. The part that I didn't mention then is that we had to financially strip ourselves to the bone to do it. In the time since, we've been hit with almost $6,000 in unexpected expenses.

So it's going to be a very spare holiday season.

This is not said to garner sympathy but as a relevant introduction to this:

Usually about mid-December I get in the mood for Christmas music. We have about a half-dozen CDs of holiday music ranging from pop to classical. I don't know how I'm going to feel about doing that this year, but we do have one CD of Christmas spirituals by Odetta - and you can be damn sure that's going to get played.
