149.2 - Unintentional Humor: John Kerry and the Russian Foreign Ministry

Unintentional Humor: John Kerry and the Russian Foreign Ministry

Next up, an edition of our occasional feature, Unintentional Humor, where something that's not supposed to be funny, just is. In this case, though, the humor is of the very bitter sort.

First we have John Kerry going on "Face the Nation" to condemn Russia's actions in Ukraine by saying how in the 21st century
You just don't invade another country on a completely trumped up pretext.
This from the Secretary of State of a nation that just over two years ago finally - and unwillingly - withdrew its forces from a nation it invaded in the 21st century, in 2003, on a "completely trumped up pretext."

Meanwhile, we have the Russian Foreign Ministry saying, at a time when Russia has invaded the Crimea and still threatens to invade eastern Ukraine, that
unilateral actions do not fit the standards of civilized relations between states.
What was I just saying last week about how power corrupts and how being in a position of power makes you think your own concerns and desires are the only ones of any importance?
